Most people develop acne -- the most common skin condition -- to some degree, but it primarily affects teenagers undergoing hormonal changes.
You get acne on your face and skin because your liver fails to timely deactivate androgens, which are sex hormones produced by your adrenal gland and sex gland (ovary in females, testis in males).
How does Coconut Oil Help Your Acne Treatment?
Coconut oil helps your acne treatment by:
- killing excess acne bacteria and Candida to restore their balance on your skin and in your gut respectively with its antimicrobial fatty acids. Restoring balance helps to hamper growth of bacteria and yeast, and stop bacterial infection, and thus, reduce inflammation and stop hyper proliferation of dead skin cells.
- Coconut oil locks the moisture in the skin and also nourishes it with essential fatty acids. Its phenolic compounds contribute to its antioxidant activity and give you glowing skin.
- Lightly warm up the oil and apply on the face and neck.
- Massage for a few minutes in gentle circular motions.
- Leave the oil on overnight.
You can add some sugar to the oil and use it as a scrub to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. Use coconut oil every night before going to bed.
